For the last few years, this has been the only local pet shop we've had in the Manchester area. Every once I. A while, I'd pop in just to see the kittens and puppies. Just before my 22nd birthday, I went in and fell head over heels with a gorgeous kitten who I was told was female. The man let me see her with her brother in the back before they were even on the shop floor. My partner agreed that we could get the kitten, and we paid and brought her home. She appeared to have adjusted but within a week the kitten was ill. We took her to the vets and, it turns out, she was badly infested with fleas. If we'd left her even a day more, she would have died. It also turned out she wasn't a girl even though the man at the store stated she was and it was her sibling who was the boyl, and he wasn't even old enough to be sold. My partner and I are glad we managed to save the kitten from the bad environment and personally we won't even step foot in the store again. I would say it should stick to fish and small animals, but I've also had fish and rats from them that have me wonder how well the animals are looked after.

For a pet shop that has ben going so long, you would expect them to know about animals. However, this is sadly not the case. The premises are filthy. And the animals are overcrowded. There are several kittens in a small cage, with nowhere to hide (which is what kittens NEED). It doesn't stop there, the birds are overcrowded. However, the gerbils are the most ngelected and poorly looked after: A whole family of gerbils live in a very small plastic fish tank, which is too small for ONE gerbil, yet alone several! They don't have enough bedding to do what gerbils naturally - dig tunnels. The bedding looks like it hasn't been changed for months! And they have NOTHING to chew, not even cardboard! It gets worse: they have a waterbowl in their tank! Gerbils should ONLY have a waterbottle, as (as even the worst gerbil books will tell you), not only could they drown (the bowl is bigger than the adult gerbils, let alone the poor babies who can't see where they are going yet as their eyes remain unopened), bedding will get kicked into it, and a gerbil should NEVER get wet (except under vetinary advice), something which is inevitable in this setup.

I used to visit this place quite often under the previuos owner he really knew everything about pets.He and his wife could not do enough for you IF you purchased extra bits and pieces for the pet and he did not think they were no use he would tell you so then point you to the right stuff... Now then the new owners are immigrants (nowt against them !).. But last time i visited while looking at tropical fish a young mum and her child entered and asked about pet birds and cages his reply was look for the bird you liked choose it and the cage as well and its yours.. No thought as to the proper needs he didnt seem to care (like selling a parrot and a budgie cage together and not giving a damn about it )
